WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A CLINICAL APPOINTMENT
Assessment The key to diagnosing a specific type of injury or condition involves taking a detailed case history at the beginning of the assessment. This involves asking a variety of questions about the injury itself, but also takes into account work, lifestyle and general health. This not only allows me to accurately diagnose an injury or condition, it also helps diagnose any non-musculoskeletal issue which a client may present with. |
During the assessment I will also perform a functional exam. This involves carrying out specific tests to help isolate the affected area(s) and assessing different ranges of movement in the body. The information gathered from the case history and assessment will be used to explain the type of injury/condition the client is suffering from and what can be done to help them.
Treatment
Each treatment plan will be designed specifically for each individual client depending on the results of the initial assessment. Treatments vary from:
Educating the client as to what exactly they are suffering from is a vital part of the treatment, as this allows the client to fully understand the mechanics behind their particular issue. Rehabilitation and strengthening programmes will be given in some cases to help with the recovery process as well as prevent re-occurrence of the injury.
